South Mustang Road Widening From SH 152 to Railroad
- Project Type: Roadway Design, Survey, Geotechnical, and Construction Management
About this Project
EST provided geotechnical services that included five borings drilled within the existing pavement to a depth of approximately five feet below the existing elevation. Deliverables included field boring logs and laboratory testing of samples to determine modifications needed at the project site.
Project involved roadway widening, two-way left turn lane (TWLTL) addition, storm sewer system, grading, and paving. This road provides access to one of the largest high schools in the state. This project’s purpose was to improve safety, to alleviate high traffic levels, to provide a safe, ADA compliant pedestrian sidewalk, and to drain a relatively flat roadway.
This project provides construction phasing to maintain one-way access, which was a major project challenge. An additional challenge required some storm sewer construction phasing into a standalone project, which was not anticipated at the original project scoping. Project required multiple meetings to meet city concerns, to discuss design criteria, and to ensure ongoing school construction project phasing. EST provided bidding services and is currently performing construction inspection.
