EOC Turnpike – NE50th to NE122nd – Roadway & Bridge Design
Client: Oklahoma Turnpike Authority
Project Type: Roadway & Structural Design
About this Project
EST was contracted by the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (OTA) to complete the design for a 4.5 mile segment of the Eastern Oklahoma County (EOC) Turnpike. The EOC is a four-lane, divided, fully controlled access facility. This project included 6 Turnpike Over (TPO) bridges and 1 Turnpike Under (TPU) bridge, a diamond interchange, lighting, and cable barrier. The total construction cost is $57 million. This project includes a mainline toll plaza and ramp tolling. The asphalt facility is designed with the option to widen inside the center median to a six-lane facility in the future. In addition, the facility includes the option to add frontage roads in the right of way. Due to the existing topography for the virgin alignment, significant grade changes were required. EST completed the embankment/excavation study as well as the pavement design. Construction phasing was specially designed to reduce delay during construction while providing sufficient time for settlement to occur in the embankments required for the new turnpike alignment.
