Wild Horse Park, City of Mustang
Our team designed four full-size soccer fields, a new six-plex baseball complex and increased parking at Wild Horse Park in Mustang, Oklahoma. We first obtained field survey and topographic information to determine how the topography, existing utilities and site elements would impact the design. We also collaborated with the City to determine budget constraints and design elements. We were able to minimize the number of small area drains and storm sewer pipes by utilizing overland flow and swales to drain. These requirements required more space between fields and limited the locations of sidewalks and trails. Our team was able to accommodate the City’s request by installing storm sewer in only a couple of areas. We also coordinated with the Parks Department to plan for future improvements, including adequate spaces for concessions and bathroom buildings, new parking lots, access for the baseball fields and a new maintenance/storage shed.
